Hi, my name is Sia and I love everything about Greek Weddings!
Smashing plates and big fat Greek weddings have always been a part of my life. I have been a bridesmaid more than a dozen times, a Koumbara twice and now, finally, I too am married to the man of my dreams.
Sia Aristidou writes about Greek Weddings and Traditions and sells beautiful handmade products at the Greek Wedding Shop. She loves to eat Greek food, travel the world with her husband and hopes to one day have a baby. ABOUT THE BLOG
WHY DO YOU WRITE ABOUT GREEK WEDDINGS AND GREEK CULTURE?
I am fascinated by the rituals and traditions that Greek people celebrate at weddings. I also love the culture and food shared at other important family events such as Christenings, Birthdays, Easter and Christmas.
However, it seems that many of us (including me) follow our family traditions without truly understanding them. I wrote my very first post back in 2007 and titled it Understanding Tradition. Although this post was written a very long time ago, it is still the very same reason why I still love writing about Greek traditions today.
WHO READS THIS BLOG?
Greek Weddings and Traditions an online community of people who ask questions, post comments and share stories with each other. Some readers are brides and/or grooms looking for wedding advice and some readers love to cook (and eat) Greek food.
Students use this blog for research projects and designers use it for creative inspiration. We work with wedding vendors like photographers, videographers, hair stylists, make up artists, florists, travel agents, venues, wedding planners.
WHERE DO YOUR READERS LIVE?
Many of our readers live in countries like Australia, USA, Canada and the UK where our parents or grandparents migrated to years ago. Over time, many things have been lost in translation and cultural traditions have continued to change and adapted with time. Greek traditions are celebrated differently across the world depending on the country you live in or the Island where your family comes from.
WHAT IF I’M NOT GREEK?
This blog is not only for Greek people! It is for everyone who want to learn about Greek culture and embrace our traditions. Greek’s are very welcoming. If you have ever been invited over to a Greek house for dinner, then you will know exactly what I mean. Everybody is welcome at our table.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
Join the conversation about Greek Weddings and Traditions and share your own wedding stories, traditions and experiences. The more we share, the more we can all learn about the history and the relevance behind our beautiful traditions.
